Shropshire is one of the best areas in the UK for collecting Silurian and Ordovician fossils, with numerous inland exposures across the county. These sites are typically found in old quarries, cuttings, and natural outcrops.
Fossils commonly include brachiopods, corals, and graptolites, with occasional trilobites also being found. These deposits represent some of the oldest and most important fossil-bearing strata in Britain.
In addition to these older rocks, there are also locations with Carboniferous limestone, providing further variety for collectors exploring the geology of Shropshire.
